After years of thinking about purchasing a new home, you finally feel ready to make it a reality. Before you start looking at homes, make sure you do these two things!

When it comes to starting the home buying process, one might think that going straight to house hunting is the best idea. Although it might seem like the most reasonable option, it actually isn't! What you should do is ask yourself the following questions:

• What do you really want?

• Do you qualify for it?

For the first question, don't think about the amenities or look of the house itself. Having the perfect dream house with cool perks is what we want, but the bill won't look too pretty when you have to pay the first mortgage payment. Look over your finances and determine the amount you can afford for the mortgage every month. Being able to afford the mortgage on top of other home buying expenses such as closing costs is necessary in order to become a successful homeowner.

The second question is regarding getting qualified before you go out house hunting! When it comes to getting qualified, one must make sure they get approved under these three conditions:

• Your Credit/Credit Score

• Down Payment

• Debt to Income Ratio

If you are good to go for these three conditions, that means you are ready to start your house hunting journey! You'll also get a pre-approval letter which streamlines the home buying process for all parties involved.

With these two important things in mind, you'll be ready to submit offers and make that dream home a reality!
